Dallas Design District magazine
I was hired by Modern Luxury to develop a custom publication for the Dallas Design District. The primary goal of this magazine was to showcase the upscale galleries, showrooms, restaurants, and luxury living in the area while also providing a fold-out map and directory of businesses in the district.
After visiting the district in person, the aesthetics of the design came naturally to me. The area is truly impressive, with its curated antique shops and showrooms featuring next-year's looks. I opted for a clean and modern look to showcase all the fantastic offerings.
However, the production side of the magazine came with some challenges. The online directory was still in its early stages, and the data provided had numerous issues. To make it usable, I had to conduct several hundred find-and-replace searches.
For the inaugural issue, DDD requested that signups for the directory remain open as long as possible. I agreed, even though it would cause issues with the directory's page layout and the fold-out map.
Despite these challenges, we produced a beautiful publication that showcases one of the most unique and fascinating parts of Dallas. You can check out the entire publication here.
Winterberry Group
Winterberry Group brought me on board during their start-up phase to improve the quality of their whitepapers. These whitepapers cover a broad range of topics such as advertising, marketing, data, technology, and commerce.
The design constraints for this project were clear - to ensure that the existing website and the whitepapers shared a common visual language. I also had to adhere to the brand guidelines' color palette. Their website has a modern and clean look that translates beautifully to print.
Due to the complexity of the topics covered, the production phase of the whitepapers is challenging. Their team of experts continue to refine and update the text, making changes up to the release date of the paper.
Despite the rigorous process, WG also tasked me with creating a European version for their UK readers, with the final copy ready for a simultaneous release. By utilizing AppleScript in InDesign, we can now have the UK version ready in just moments.

The Timepiece Book Magazine
Silicon Valley Magazine approached me to create a custom publication for their client, CH Premier. The goal was to showcase multiple watch brands offered by the client, while also providing informative segments that cater to the readers' interests.
Given the advertisers for this publication, I recognized the importance of utilizing a fair amount of white space. This was necessary to balance out the bold designs of the high-end watch ads, while also allowing the featured watches in the editorial pages to visually stand out on the page.
The only production challenge we faced was sourcing high-quality images from the various watch brands. There was always one watch model that proved difficult to obtain until later in the process.
I thoroughly enjoy working on this magazine every year. It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase luxury watch brands and help CH Premier inform and entertain their customers.
